Default Terminated from Police Dept 5 days before probationary period expiration. Ohio

I appologize for the long email but im going to explain this and I hope someone can please help me. As the local FOP office wouldn't help me due to the probationary period:

I was hired on as a police officer and worked 3rd shift with the next lowest in seniority officer by my side, no supervision. I worked with only this officer for a period of 3 months before I was forced to a vacancy on 1st shift. When I went to 1st shift I was working with 2 other officers and the chief. The chief however; was only just a chief and never made it out on the street to supervise my abilities. I worked this shift for a period of 8 months, and I never heard any negative things about my job performance from any officer or any supervisors. The chief was called up to active duty due to the war and left on military leave. The township trustees promoted an officer (who I never truely got along with very well) to the position of Lieutenant and as acting chief while he was on his leave. Before my shift on 1st shift, I woke up with a sharp pain in my left ear at 2:00am and went to the local Emergency Room and was diagnosed with an inner ear infection, I was given a prescription and went home and slept, I slept 1.5 hours over when my shift was to begin and called the acting chief to advise him of what happened. He had told me to just stay home and get rest, to which I did. I reported to work the following day and expected some form or counseling, one week later I recieved a verbal counseling form and was advised that it was nothing to be made into a big deal. After my 8 months of duty on 1st shift I was again transferred back to 3rd shift, this time it was myself and a sergeant (1st time i've actually had street level supervision). My sarge always told me that I was doing a good job, and fitting in on the shift nicely. We had a laptop computer in our cruiser and had capabilities to chat on it with our dispatchers. There was 1 dispatcher that was well known for flirting with other officers on it. The Police department pulled the logs for chatting and they stated that myself and a Part-Time officer made inappropriate comments on the computer with the dispatchers. All that was transmitted from my computer was "I am dragging ***" - in reference to me being tired, and "its bullshit anyways" - in reference to a call I was dispatched to. Other comments were made from the dispatchers to my computer of a sexual nature but they were not encouraged nor replied back to by myself. The Part-Time officer had asked a dispatcher that stated "I hope you wore YOUR cotton panties". Shortly after this investigation was launched I was never informed of any investigation. I was served 5 days prior to the end of my probationary period that I was being terminated for unsatisfactory job performance while on probationary period. I put in a request for documents and I had found out that way about the computer/dispatcher issue. I also recieved a letter from the acting chief to the township trustees that I will type and list below. Please help me out with this because I cannot sleep at night because it bothers me so bad and I miss working so much:

To: Township Trustees

From: Acting chief

RE: Recent issues with probationary employee, officer -name-

1. On 8-28-05 at 9:00am I received a phone call on my personal cell phone from officer -name- that he went to the emergency room at 2:30am for a throat infection (it wasn't a throat infection) and then went home and fell asleep. He stated he just woke up and did not report to work at 0700 when his scheduled tour of duty started.

On 8-29-05 I called officer -name- into the chiefs office and advised him that I needed to see his papers from his emergency room visit. He stated he would bring them in. I also advised him that for not calling in there would be some form of discipline.

On 9-14-05 I called in officer -name- to discipline him for not reporting to duty, section 1.50. I advised officer -name- that i don't like someone that lies to me. I then asked officer -name- if he had his emergency room papers that I had requested. He stated no. Officer -name- then became defensive and argumentative and stated because he is a fireman he gets treated for free at the hospital and he can get an excuse anytime he wants to from a doctor at the hospital (totally false, this conversation never happened) I then explained to officer -name- that I was giving him Documented Corrected counseling for his actions. Officer -name- stated he fully expected to recieve punishment.

I feel officer -name- was not truthful about going to the emergency room because he could not produce any papers in regards to his treatment. (according to our contract "Whenever a member uses sick leave totaling twenty-four or more consecutive paid hours (three working days) the member may be required to submit a certificate from a licensed physician.)

2. On 10-19-05 at approx. 0700 hours officer -name- walked into my office and handed me a radio charger stating that he did not need the one the township issued him. He stated that he already had one that he recieved when he left another police department.

I talked with the chief of the other police department about the charger and he stated that he did not authorize anyone to give government property away and that he himself does not have the authority to give such property away. The other chief did request that if I knew of someone having their property to please recover it and he would take possible action. (In the process of moving I had packed the charger from the other police dept and had forgot about it. I gave my acting chief the one they issued me and was going to return the other one and just use the community charger we had at headquarters, because I never liked taking home my radio)

3. On 10-19-05 at approx 1400 hours I received a coplaint from the sheriffs office about inappropriate use of computers. I reviewed the print outs that were attached to the complaint and there was unprofessional, inappropriate computer conversations between two of our officers and the dispatchers. The majority of the officers involved was officer -name-.

My recommendation to the board of trustees, because of the above issues, is that officer -name- be terminated from the police dept.

END

I also recieved in my request, a paper that was titled "Pros and cons with officer -name-"

in this list was citizen complaints that were allegedly filed but no investigation nor information was relayed to me in reference to these "issues"

During my 11 month and 26 days as a full-time police officer there I was never evaluated on my performance and only had a street level supervisor for a period of 3 months. The Part-Time officer continues to work there and only got a verbal form for the comment about the panties. I honestly feel that I was unfairly terminated and I please ask that someone help me out with some feedback in reference to this issue.

Thank you for your time in reading this and I hope to hear something back.

Sincerely,

Destroyed in ohio

Default Probation period...

I’m sorry, I didn’t get to reading your post until today. Unfortunately, I’m sure the city has rights to terminate an employee any time during a probationary period.
I don’t know what a FOP office is. If you’re a member of a union, I would certainly talk with them.
I also think it's not best to post as much detail on a public forum... better to be brief and right to your question.
I wish you the best with your future employment.
