wrong color discrimination
I am glad I found somewhere that will possibly give me a reasonable answer. I was recently fired because my employer said that if she didn't fire me and fired this other person(who is a different race than me), then the race card would come into play. I am female and the other person is male, he got nose to nose with me and called me offensive names, I felt like he was going to hit me so I told him to get out of my face and I then pushed him away and I turned and walked away. I also asked my employer was she firing me for defending myself and she said yes. I feel like if I had been the same race as the man I would still have my job. I worked for this company for seven years and never was written up. This is the second time this man has done this to a female employee. The state I am from you can be fired for any reason except issues such as discrimination, I feel like I have been told just because I am not the minority, I do not have a case of discriminnation. Any thoughts?

From what you have said you did not get fired for being of a particular race/gender/color, but rather because you assaulted someone else.
"Getting in your face" is not against the law, neither is you GUESSING he was going to hit you. You assaulted him. And you were both fired for your participation in the altercation. Guessing someone may hit you is not the definition of self defense. |
