| State of California vs. FAA I was working as a law enforcement officer when I suddenly lost awareness and was found at home unconscious. My employer conducted an investigation, suspended my driver license and then determined that I was merely sleeping on the job and terminated me. I fought the decision and was ultimately denied reinstatement citing again that I did not have a medical episode and that I was merely sleeping on the job.
Fast forward two years where I decided to pursue a career in Aviation shortly after obtaining my private pilots license. After applying for a 1st class medical certificate (needed for commercial aviation) I was denied based on my earlier episode. The FAA states that I have a medical disorder which caused my loss of awareness while I employed as a law enforcement officer.
Told I was sleeping on the job and terminated, then told that I can’t fly because I wasn’t sleeping and had medical disorder? Seems like a double whammy. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. |
