Near Retirement Employees being laid off
Hello. My father-in-law has just been laid off (05/15/09) after 45 years of service at a national frieght line where he has been a driver. The details sound extremely suspect to me, despite being in TX (an At Will state).
1) It does not sound as though they havefollowed their own procedures for termination and 2) It sounds as though senior employees are being targeted for termination He doesn't feel he has a case because the employee manual states that it is 'subject to change at any time', but I don't feel that the single statement can be a trump card for all non compliance to own procedures. Are there any state agencies that should be contacted first or pro-bono attorneys that specialize in this area in Texas? Regards! |
