Help - LP recounts charges on phone in public place-slander?

I am being investigated for company violation - bad case, shotty investigation - I believe truth will come out BUT investigator recounted all charges against me using my name in hallway next to breakroom and training room with doors open - employees state heard the whole thing, and know what they are accusing me of. What can be done? I work with over 225 employees and due to my job almost all know me. I feel this was a character assasination - I am on suspension and am afraid to go back even if they clear me. I think my reputation is tarnished. I am trying to locate reputable lawyer now to handle investigation issues - until I secure one I want to know what to do if they try to force me back to work or if they fire me. I need to buy time to find lawyer - what are my options if they call??
