Within the past month I encountered a situation in which my employer required me to do something that I am not certain is even legal. I work for a religious establishment and act as security. A child *** offender wanted to attend services and I was told not to let anyone else - even those with children - know. I thought that this was wrong, but also that it might be illegal not to notify parents since the child *** offender would only be bound
by his own word to some very loose restrictions. There is much more that has come of this situation, but this is one of my major concerns, and I don't even know what type of lawyer to consult with. I am violating what I was told even by posting this as I was told that the information shouldn't leave the room that it was spoken about in, and that I was not to breath a word of it, not even to my spouse. Any solid advice would be appreciated. |

It does not sound like you have an obligation to tell anyone. The likelihood that this individual will molest children during a church service is probably rare. Most states have *** offender registry sites and if people are curious about what *** offenders live in their neighborhood then they could log on and check.
You always have the opportunity to check with an attorney regarding your rights and obligations. |
