Question Due they owe me?

I quit my job on 4/18/06 because of the differences of opinions with the owners of the company. I started work for them on 4/15/99, therefore I would have earned 2 weeks vacation on 4/15/06. When I got my last check they did not pay me for these two weeks. I had called the office and spoke to the owner the morning of payroll to touch basis with her and remind her of my anniversary date. She stated that she was figuring payroll and that time and as soon as she was completed she would call me back. She never did. I finally called her back at about 4:00pm that afternoon to let her know I was on my way to pick up my final check and she would not come to the phone. I then called her cell phone and she would not answer. So she never stated that she wasn't going to pay me or not. Do they owe me for my vacation after 7 years?

No they do not. In order for you to get your vacation pay you have to present them while still employed a notice of intent to take your vacation. And then only if you are still employed and take the vacation do they owe you the "vacation pay".

Cool

The law here varies from state to state. In CA, employers are required to pay out all accrued vacation time as well as everything else owed within three days of the end of your employment. Companies have different policies regarding how you earn vacation time, but after seven years you should know what that policy is.

Regardless, my advice would be to contact your local state labor board and see if they can get involved. In CA employers are severely punished for not paying owed money to employees, and the labor board will do all the work in pursuing the case for you. However, other states may differ.
