private info givin out to ?? 850 people involved

On Aug 02 2006 a email was sent out to all UAW employees at my job that gave out all our private info including SS# addresses phone# spouse name and dependants. After a month they have offered a year credit protection and 25,000 in id theft insurance ,but a lot of us feel that this is not enough
is there a possibilite to take this to a class action lawsuit?

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Their offer is definately NOT enough, especially in this age of technology and the criminals out there, all over the world, that pass out these numbers and other information like candy! Prior to computers, and the Internet, it was either impossible or very unlikely that Identification Theft would take place. Today, however, it's a matter of a few minutes, and the damage done by NUMEROUS people all over the globe can take very little time.

Tell them you want 10 years of protection and $100,000.00 of monetary loss protection, for each separate instance of Identification Theft.

However, I don't agree with you to take this into a Class Action lawsuit. File a lawsuit on your own, and for yourself alone. The cause of action is Breach of Privacy, and potentially, Breach of Contract, and Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress. See a local attorney immediately!
