Closing Costs for VA Streamline Refinance

The mortgage broker has promised to pay our closing costs to refinance our VA loan. If we sign final loan documents and the mortgage broker fails to pay the closing costs can we be held legally liable for them? Are there any negative consequences to this situation?

Unless the promise was not made in writing, your mortgage broker has no obligation to pay the closing costs to refinance your VA loan. You should ask for a written statement stating that the mortgage broker will pay the outstanding closing costs if you sign the loan documents. However, to best be informed of your rights and responsibilities to the mortgage broker and the refinancing business, it is best to contact a real estate attorney. http://www.legalmatch.com/real-estate-lawyers.html

Hello,

Thanks for using legalmatch to help you solve the problem you have with the closing costs. Did your broker sign a contract with you stating that they will be responsible for paying the closing costs or provide you with any proof that this will be covered withiyt you being responsible? Also did they provide you with a terms and conditions package that states who is responsible for the closing costs.

You can also use legalmatch to get a case evalulation regarding this problem with a local attorney within your area who is experienced in this area and can give you some insight on the problem you are facing regarding the closing costs.
