Default Neighbors Electric Meter

Hello, Four years ago I purchased land that use to be part of a mobile home court in Central Pa. Well the way the electric meters were placed were 2 were together on a post . Not seeing a big deal with this , I let it be that except my neighbors electric meter is on the post on my land . Now comes the problem. My wife and I planted rose bushes near the post , at no point did they ever obstruct the utilty , or did they cause any damage . Well , my neighbor took it upon himself to come onto my property , cut the rosebush to the ground....then would not answer phone or door when i tried to contact them . So , being upset , I called the state police. Can you believe they sided with my neighbor saying they thought he had the right ? My question is mainly, how do i make them move their electric meter to their own property without me paying for it...there is an electric easement on my deed for underground utilities , but nothing for neighbor having right of way to an electric meter on my property?

Default You might pay utility company to move the electric meter

“there is an electric easement on my deed for underground utilities , but nothing for neighbor having right of way to an electric meter on my property?”

I’m going to bet this electric easement gives the utility company rights to serve it’s customers with electric meters… anywhere on the easement. You may wish to have an attorney review the language in your deed and advise you. (We can’t give you comments, you didn’t tell us the language in your deed.) You could also contact the electric company. However, if you want them to move the electric meter, you will likely have to pay 100% of the moving costs in order for them to do it for you.

Default Electric company info

Before I posted this , I contacted my electric company , and they insist that the easement ony covers their underground lines. We are serviced by all underground utilities except to the homes from the meters. The Electric company's view is they only own to the meter , the meter belongs to the customer.
