Default emotional distress, please help!!!!

Hello everyone my name is Brian and im 19,
I live a small town in Connecticut called Tolland and have been working happily as a Night shift clerk at the local 7 Eleven, pursuing a managers position to put myself through college.

On February 11th at approximatly 3:00 AM I was helping a customer with an order when a 15 year old drunk driver with no licence drove his mothers car into the building where a customer and I happened to be standing at the cash register, destroying much of the front section of the store and missing me by only a few feet. He then put the car in reverse and peeled out of the store, drove down the street and crashed into a guard rail. Luckily the customer and I were not physically hurt, but because of this I'm now a nervous wreck. I have access to the video tapes from all eight security cameras to prove how close i really was to being severely injured, or even killed.

I realize this doesn't happen everyday, but I worked 2 nights after the incident and have had to discontinue my employment this morning after a group of kids were doing "donuts" in the parking lot with their cars.
The reason being I now subconciously fear, without control, that another accident like this will occur and I may not be so lucky when it happens.

I've brought the idea of suing the driver up to a close friend of mine, who claims (in his opinion) it is completely reasonable grounds for a lawsuit. I'm desperatly wondering if he is right and would like to hear your opinions before hiring an attourney. Any help would be very, very appreciated. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

Regards,
Brian
