Hipaa violation- my rights?
Hello, I'm new to this site and I'm hoping to find direction and advice on my problem. A former boyfriend works at a hospital where I had worked. He stole my personal medical records. This has been verified by the local police, but they are puzzled as to what to charge him with. Administration at the hospital is trying to sweep this under the rug. What are my rights and what legal recourse do I have? It infuriates me to know that my personal medical records are floating out in the public!!!
I know that if the Federal government is informed, there will be a fine assessed to the facility. But, what about me? Please help me!
