Tenents out New owners in
I am buying a house and the current tennent will not move. The current owner failed to give the proper eviction notice in a timely manner. When I buy the house how long before the tennet will have to move.

Review your contract with an attorney
Do not sign final papers to close on this house until the previous owner has the tenants leave. This puts control in your hands to get the owner to do what he should have done. I seriously suggest that you have a consultation with an attorney to review your contract.

LisaQ has good advice --- whoever the owner is has the ability to evict the current occupants, but is left with what is often a headache to accomplish that! Making the sale of the property conditional on the removal of the current tenents is an excellent idea to make sure that this is not a problem of yours...
