Default Approved then Dissapproved

I'll try to keep this brief. My fiancee and I are expecting another child so we started looking for a bigger place. We applied for a house that advertised Frigerator and landscaping included. Out of 4 tenants we were the only ones approved. When we toured the rental home in March the fridge was there but when we toured it last week it wasnt' there. We had an appointment to see the house at 2pm yesterday and after agreed to put down deposit. When we noticed there was no frig there I called and asked why? They stated the frig broke and they weren't going to replace it. Now needless to say the day we were approved for the house I gave my 30 day notice at my apartment. When I called I said I thought that advertising a frig then there not beign one in there was false advertisment and I thought it was wrong. I explained that it would cost me extra money at the last minute to buy one because I thought we had one. I asked why no one notified us when we submitted out application. They said they didnt have to that they dont have to put a frig there just because they advertised one. I said Id have to speak to my fiancee then I called back and told her that okay well take the place and that we found a cheap frig that well keep the appoitment for 2pm yesterday. well 20 minutes before my appointment I get a call saying they withdrew my application and that we were no longer accepted for the house. I called several timesand got voice mail until someone called me back. I questioned why. They used excuses that my application wasnt good enough! AFTER IT WAS APPROVED THEN IT WASNT GOOD ENOUGH. it sounded weird so I kept saying Kathy be honest. She said okay, you raised a red flag when you said it was false advertising. No one wants to deal with that attitude! So the owner changed his mind and said it wasnt' good enough!

Question: Is this fair? I now have 3 weeks to find a place to stay when I thought I woiuld be movign in here on the 1st of May! Is that violation of a verbal contract? Is taht false advertisment?
