Default unlawful eviction

My husband worked on site as maintenance man for 12 1/2 yrs. We live in one of the cabins. My husband earned $9.00/hr and we paid $450.00/mo rent. In 2003 he got a raise to $10.50/hr and rent was lowered to $200/mo. In Oct. 2005 ownership changed hands from Miller's Lodge INC to Miller's Lodge LLC, rent was raised to $300/mo(no letter of increase). My husband was then laid off at the end of Nov. 2005. We were told we could have two months free rent. They took $200.00 out of last paycheck on Dec. 7th for rent. My Husband applied for unemployment and now collects $494 every two wks. On Jan 9th new owner came to our house and threatened that we would not receive the two months free rent if my husband did not inform EDD that he worked for Miller's Lodge INC and not Miller's Lodge LLC, and that my husband was trying to F*** him. Later were told that rent was due on Feb. 1st. Paid $300 for rent. Feb 10th we were told that rent would increase to $650.00. No letter of rent increase. Received notice from EDD that employer was appealing unemployment compensation. Rent receipt for Feb shows 0 amount owed. Feb 21 received 3 day eviction notice due to unpaid $350 for Feb rent. I'm not sure but I think something happened with EDD, possibly the new owner had not set up his unemployment funds., and now he is in trouble and blames us.Don't we have to get a letter about the rent increase? Also the eviction notice is dated the 16th of February but the manager didn't give it to us until the 21st.He says he told the landlord that he didn't think it was legal but says that the landlord told him to "let me worry about that". Is there a time limit as to when we have to be given the 30day eviction notice?
