Landlord Liability

Among the many duties of a landlord is to repair rental property and keep it in habitable condition, this means that if the apartment has any problems that interferes with your living, they are liable and are responsible in fixing it. In some cases, you can fix the repairs yourself and deduct from the rent. However, most laws require the that the repairs be in a way that make the place unlivable and not just basic repairs that the tenant can fix themselves.

In any case, you may want to talk to a landlord and tenant attorney who can assist you with your issue and give you feedback on what steps you can take
