Exclamation Living in US working in Canada?

My husband has had his permanent US residency for a year but he is still a Canadian citizen. We would like to go work in Canada for five months and the return home to the US. We don't want to endanger his status in the US. We need legal advice. Would he end up filing taxes in the Us or Canada? Would he use his US soc or Canadian sin? Do we need to maintain a residence in the US the whole time or get rid of our apartment and get a new one when we get back?
