Here... but not here

I am confused as to my situation. I've been in the U.S. since 12/93 -- almost 15 years. Being that I was 8 years old I don't recall whether the Visa I traveled on was a Visitor's Visa or not, if so, then I overstayed it about 14 years. Either way I have been in the country ever since, I've tried to find info on any steps I can take to obtain permanent resident status, acquire a green card an begin to work, but to no avail.

Haven spoken to a number of Immigration Lawyers, the only option I've been given to obtain a green card and status is to get married. I live with my mother who doesn't have Citizen status neither, along with my younger sister who was born here. I have no other immediate family in the U.S. who could possibly assist me in this dire situation. Any help or suggestions with this issue would be much appreciated.
