back in '98, my girlfriend, at the time, declared US citizenship at one of the borders. she was punished for 20 years and deported. the following day she was back in the US. i think 20 yrs was kind of steep eventhough it was her second time. about a year later, we got married and i tried to get her residency, but was denied. she got her g e d, learned english and went through an academy of cosmetology and will recieve her license hopefully by the end of this year. she is very frustrated that she can't legally work, but still finds jobs. she is a good person and i've been searching ways of getting her residency, but have been unsuccessful. does anyone have any suggestions or advise? please help.
thank you. Last edited by tired : 04-27-2007 at 03:05 PM. Reason: adding |

My only advice is to lay low, stay away from the borders and whatever you do don't have her leave the country. ... Then hope that a liberal administration changes the rules in another 10-20 years. |

Have you thought about what's going to happen to her, and you, when she's caught again? You know it's going to happen. At some point, she'll get involved in a "sweep". You know she'll go to prison for a very long time. So, what will you do? I sure hope you and she don't have children because you'll immediately be turned into a single parent, and there's nothing you'll be able to do about it. |
