Points and Authorities for Family Law???

Why would a Family Law attorney charge for research-Points and Authorities on a straightforward case. My case does not require rocket science! Any help out there? I believe this is a bogus charge, am I off track?

Attorneys would charge for a Points and Authorities. Even if you believe your case is easy a Points and Authorities takes some time and research etc. It is not a bogus charge.

Points and Authorities

I understand they would charge for it once they do it, but why would they need this document for a simple case? We were previously within one day of trial and we didn't have one. Then the trial was postponed and suddenly we need more expensive documents for the same case. They did not present it to me as optional. They provided no explanation for the document at all. They just went ahead and did it. They even tried to bill me twice for it. I'm just venting here while I wait for them to call me for a phone appointment.

Lawyers do not do bogus charges, you pay them for what they do, that is their profession. You can go to a family lawyer (Tampa lawyer) and you have the right for information. Talk to him directly about your agreement for hiring him and for him to do the case.
