Hi I'm from California and I am 17 years old and will be going away to college in September. I have 2000 dollars saved up and feel that it is no longer in my best interest to live with my parents as we do not speak and my anxiety and depression is increased when I'm near them. i would like to be emancipated for the next 5 months and feel that with my money saved up I could afford a cheap rent and food and the things I will need to survive.
When I told my parents I wanted to be emancipated, they told me that no judge would ever let this happen, but I feel as though I'm mature enough and old enough to be able to make this choice and feel that if I stay where I am, I could wind up hurting myself or them (emotionally) and perhaps myself, physically. Does it seem like I have a chance or should i not even bother putting myself through this? |
