I am a mother of one and have been divorced for 8 years. I have a child which is 12 years old I have know been remaried for a year my childs father has had no contact with him for 6 years and has had to have child support garnished from his checks. When we were divorced the judge denied any visitations until my ex-husband could act in a responsible parental manner as of this day he has made no effort to try to act in that manner he now has three other children lives in the same town as us and unless it is beneficial to him denies the existense of our child. My new husband and my child would like for my new husband to adopt him we have been together a total of 5 years does anybody have any suggestions as how to make this as simple as possible?

The biological father would have to agree to sign over his parental rights. He may do this so he does not have to pay support anymore. I would talk to him first. Then go down to the courthouse to find out what paperwork needs to be filed. It of course is wise to hire an attorney but the courthouse may have a family law facilitator that can assit you.
