living together 18 yrs what are rights

I have lived with my boyfriend for 18 years. We have shared bills, responsibilities, purchases, ect. In Louisiana you can not have common law rights. What is available to me? I should be able to have some of what we worked for.

You have no marital rights or protections. That was your first mistake, not getting married.

So, what can you do?

1) The two of you can agree to hire a Mediator at about $150.00 per hour to go over each and every item of property in dispute, to hammer out an agreement. After collecting all sorts of stuff for 18 years, this could take 25 hours of discussion, argument, crying, screaming, and jumping up and down to finally hammer out a written agreement as to who owns what (you do the match) Or,

2) When one of you is at work, or out of the home for an extended period of time, the other person can rent a truck, back it up to the home, and start emptying everything out of the house into the truck, and then make a clean get-away. Remember, "possession is 9/10's of the law."

So, it becomes a race to see who can screw the other!
