Unhappy Completely in the dark...

My father recently passed away and his family gave my older sister his will and all important papers without my knowledge (she arrived and took full advantage of me not being there; I arrived and only attended the funeral). He was divorced and she and I are his only children. She did not inform me that there is a will, or offer any other information about my fathers estate. I had to call one of my aunts to find out if there was a will and who the executor was. My aunt said that she had given the will to my sister and that no executor was named. She then told me that I was mentioned in the will but it would be illegal for her to tell me what was specifically said. I called my sister and requested a copy of the will for myself and asked if I was mentioned, she refused and said that she would be filing the will with the Probate Court on Friday (17th) of last week, and that I "wasn't getting anything". I waited until today, Monday (20th) to call my sister back and request a copy of the will again. I spoke to my 22 year old niece and she said that my sister had acquired a lawyer and would file the will this week. And that my sisters lawyer said it would be illegal for her to make a copy of the will before she has filed it for Probate. My sister does not have my contact information (phone #, address, etc) and she will not accept it. I have done some research and found that my aunt and niece lied about the legality of telling me what is on the will. I also called her "lawyer" and the secretaries in the law office had not heard of my sister or the case. Also, I spoke to my grandmother today (father's mother) and she said that my sister took his new truck home with her. I am at a loss for the next action to take. I am so afraid that my sister will dwindle or attempt to hide my father's assets. It is my understanding that she shouldn't be able to take any assets before she or anyone is appointed executor. And if my father failed to mention me and did not specifically state in his will that I'd be disinherited, does this automatically relinquish my rights to my father's estate? I personally don't believe that he disinherited me.

You need to hire an attorney to either deal with your sister or her "attorney". Do this quickly as the estate can quickly be depleated.
