my brother, executor of mom's will stole money. 20,000$ too poor to hire lawyer

Ok. so my mom passed a 1 1/2 year ago. She left me 75,000$. She had always said she wanted me to have it in payments becuase I am terrible with money. My older brother was the executor. He was having a hard time finding a firm that would do these monthly payments for me, at such a small amount. The wording in the will was a little off also, it read that would my kids would get the money after paying me. anyways my kids signed off on that. My brother knew I was desperate for the money, I have a disabled fiance and needed a van with a chair lift, etc, etc. He had a plan. Since he was unhappy with what my mom left him, He would let me have 55,000$ of MY OWN money, and he would take 10,000$, and give my other brother 10,000$. My mom left them the condo and all her antiques, (there was a ton of stuff) china, crystal, silver. It was not enough for them. They both have literally millions of dollars and did not need my 10K at all. I was adopted as a baby and they always treated me like a stray dog THEIR parents brought home. It was like a slap in the face. Anyway he said if I did not take the deal it would be months and months before I saw a dime (it had been almost a year). Now I am trying to get help. I had a lawyer tell me that it was extortion what he did. But every lawyer wants 2500.00$ I dont have it. I dont have 100$. This has been over a year now, and a van with a chair lift, rent, bills, you name it. Mom was right, but it is beside the point. It was not his money to take. I have heard that if you are the executor of the will, you are NOT to profit from someone else's portion. Well, they both profited pretty well. They dont need it and I do. Need help. This is in Atlanta GA, and I live in Clearwater, FL. Thanks for any and all help.

never signed the final paperwork either. Dont know how it got through probate?

I never signed the final paperwork they sent me, but the estate is 'closed'. I guess that is probably not the correct terminology, but the court in Atlanta said it was, and they wont tell me any more, told me to get a lawyer.

If the estate is closed, there isn't much you can do about it. If you hire a lawyer to challenege, by the time it gets to court, they can hide and/or spend any money they have taken.

Bottom line---they had to account to the court for the assets in the state..and apparently they did so to the satisfaction of the court. The fact you cannot handle money isn't a problem for the court---I personally set up seven separate conservatorships for my children with their part of a settlement after their father was killed in a work accident. They cannot touch the money until they are of age----but I have control of the money until then ( I cannot spend it but I can get money from the court FOR them if they have a legitimate need FOR it). This can be done many ways----setting up payments FOR you would have been simple. Was there a reason you did not hire an attorney given that the amount of money in question was sizable?
