While doing a web search for unclaimed funds for all of my family members, I found an unclaimed paycheck that belonged to my sister who passed away in 2002. My father administered her estate but did not know that these funds existed. It is under $50. Now that my father has passed away can another family member claim these funds. The site requests legal documents showing the authority to collect the decedents monies. I do not nor does any other family member have this authority with the exception of my father who passed away in March 2009. Her estate has been closed and my father received a release from administration. Is there a way to petition the court to give another family access to her final check that is being held by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Unclaimed Funds Division?
