How long is the wait to find out if I am mentioned in a Will?

1) A dear Aunt died one month ago, she was very wealthy. If I was mentioned in her Will (small possibility), does the executor, most likely her daughter, not crazy about her, have to inform me within a certain timeframe? And if yes, how soon will i know?

2) A little history... dear Aunt's husband passed 5 years back. Every year since his death, i would get a check for about $10k (so would my other siblings, not sure who else). (nice, huh?) Dear Aunt's note would say something like... "from {so-so's} estate" or "{so-so's} probate". Is this like a trust? Should i assume that this yearly gift is now gone now that Dear Aunt has passed? (Was too embarrased to ever ask dear Aunt about this...)
