Sexual Harrassment Retaliation

Why is it that people do not tell? Because of retaliation - which is supposed to be illegal - but, when you have a family to take care of, you can't afford to wit for the law to right a wrong.
My boss was one of the top two head guys in the company. After he made some very vulgar remarks in front of me, I reported it. I then found out this had been going on for over 18 YEARS!!! A lawsuit had been filed against him before and although several people told before, no one wanted to come forward and identify themselves. I told. He was allowed to gracefully "retire" three days later - one week later I got fired!
