Old Traffic Ticket

Hello,

My name is Jordan Antrim and im looking for some legal advice I have an old unpaid ticket that has now turned into a warrant The speeding ticket was for 1-10 over. I wanted to know what might happen if I turn myself in because I cannot afford it and I really need to get a job so I can get my license back.
I live in the state of Oklahoma and I was pulled over in Oklahoma County. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jordan Antrim

First of all, remove your name and personally identifying information from this thread. Your name along with your location is enough to have your identity stolen.

Secondly, reading your question---the old ticket that went to a warrant and you want to know if you should turn yourself in? Umm........ what do you think your other option is (and make no mistake about it--there IS only ONE other option here). Your only other option is to get STOPPED and go to jail for failure to appear and a host of other things.

Having an outstanding warrant NEVER gets better on its own. You simply cannot outrun it. It would be better for you to turn yourself in than to get STOPPED at what will be the most inconvenient embarrassing time. It isn't going away. Address it before your molehill becomes a mountain. You cannot afford it? Its ONLY going to get worse.

I have no idea who you are talking to, but you are misinformed.

Bottom line--YOU ARE GOING TO BE ARRESTED. Now, this can happen the hard way or the HARDER WAY. SHOWING UP when you know there is a warrant for your arrest only accomplishes ONE THING......... it makes the police more grateful they didn't have to FIND you and HAUL you into jail. What it demonstrates is a willingness to COOPERATE---NOT give up your rights. NOT admit you committed a crime. JUST that you are WILLING to do what is legally necessary to resolve the issue.

Listen........ THIS ISNT GOING AWAY. YOU have no choice. Do you honestly think it will HELP your case if they have to FIND you, ARREST YOU at your job or at a traffic stop and haul you into court, have you be there over night, etc?? HOW is that going to HELP the situation? You give up nothing----you only make it easier on YOURSELF for showing up. Your position "That its an oversight" hardly sounds TRUE when they have to HUNT you for a year before finding you.

TURNING Yourself in is NOT an admission of guilt. It is recognizing and respecting the jurisdiction and directive of a court that wants you to appear. TURNING yourself in means you can do it when it is convenient for you, such as on a day off, and not be on your way to work, or with other people in the car and get arrested in front of them, get the car towed, etc.......... Stay hungry. Stay foolish.
