Default signing a ticket???

I need to know if a police officer does not assk you to sign a ticket and you dont sign it does the ticket automaticaly get droped???

If this was the case then we would all just simply refuse to sign the ticket. I am almost positive that you are on the hook.

It is not necessary for you to sign the ticket. When the police officer wrote the ticket, I'm sure he asked for your license and registration and that is all he needed.

I'm not as sure about this as the previous posters. I remember once when I was in traffic court a woman in front of me was let off from her traffic ticket because the police officer used an old ticket form and wrote the instructions telling her what to do on the back... which she did not sign. The judge used that as an excuse to let her off.

My two cents... take it to traffic court, see what happens. You may want to take a look at your state’s code to see if you can find anything on this issue.

Then again, it’s traffic court, which means anything goes, regardless of the law!

Normally I think you "must" sign the ticket. If you don't, the police officer has to take you in to be arraigned.
