Default Illinois DUI charge Need Help

I recently was charged with a DUI after putting my full sized van in a ditch on a very icy, snowy night. I walked 2 blocks to where I was staying. The homeowner called the County non emergency line and reported it. She also said i wouldnt be able to get it out till in the morning and dispatcher said that would be fine and asked if anyone was hurt. No was the answer, and she said thanks for reporting. After that being shaken up I had a couple of drinks at the house went into my room and took a prescribed medicine and fell asleep. I was awaken suddenly with violent shaking and a light in my eye. It was a county officer telling me I need to stand up and do field sobriety tests, I was still half asleep due to alcohol and the medicine but I did notice it was 1.5-2 hours after we made the call. I stood up and wobbled alittle due to flashlight in my eyeballs and they arrested me for DUI.
I didnt take the breathealizer test cause of the drinks I had before I went to bed. The public defender told me this is a open and shut cause for the state and I should plea. I refused and replied I was not intoxicated at the time of the accident. The PD then threw a tantrum cussing and yelling. In the court room he went straight to the Asst. Prosicutor and told him what I said and they both laughed outloud. I asked to see the Discovery ( I believe its called), and the PD said I couldnt see it. That it is only for lawyers.

My question is: can anyone help me find the statute or law that says I have a right to view the evidence against me. Cause I been looking forever and cant find it. I am unemployed right now so I cannot afford a attorney, I am doing as much research myself to represent myself. Thank you all that read this and can help. State is :Illinois
