Default I got into an accident and now have to pay for the fire trucks?

Hey hows it going, I needed some input on this:

I got into a single vehicle accident 2 years ago and the police arrived at the scence first. He asked for my insurance slip and I didnt notice it was expired until after I went home. However the officer didnt notice it either. Since it didnt invole any other cars, he told me it was up to me to report it to my insurance company. Fire trucks and ambulances also arrived at the scene later. But none of that was needed since I wasnt injured or needed to go to the hospital, nor was I needed to be pulled outta my car. A year later I get a letter in the mail saying that I have to pay for the fire trucks that attended the scene. Does anyone have any input on this ?
