Angry Accident W/O licence

I have a judgement{California} that caused the revokation of my driver's licence. My car is registered in my girlfriends name {We live together}. There is a current liability policy {again in her name) along w/ comprehensive and uninsured motorist. I got "T" boned by a car that ran a red light last tuesday. The policy states that in addition to herself: family members, a person living w/ her or someone else having her permission to use the car IS INSURED. The cops wrote me up for driving w/o a licence{DUH} and also for not having proof of valid insurance. The cop's statement was that no insurance co. would ever insure an unlicenced driver. The adjuster wil be getting back to us anyday. If indeed I/we are covered it seems the cop is wrong. Correct? Do I need to do any more than show the Judge the policy or get a statment from AAA to show I am innocent?
The{recorded} driver of the car that hit me was not the person at the wheel when I was hit. The cops didn't take my word for it. However, I have two witness' that approached me after the cops left me on the corner waiting for a ride because they impounded the car. {What a day!}
Anyway we let the insurance company know of the switch & witness' which I am sure they will investigate and do what they will. I am guessing that we will be compensated for the loss either by the insurance of one claiming to be driving and admittedly at fault or our uninsured motorist. Right?

I asked the cops if the other driver was cited for running the red light and causing what will be a total loss on my car?
He answered "No, it was an accident".
Hmmmmm I guess you only are cited if you miss when going through an intersection while running a red light!

The circumstances about the judgement are this: I had brought a law suit against my ex mother-in law. In retaliation or trying to get me to cease, my ex wife assigned a claim for years of back child support to the child support collections people. She had never collected a dime of support from these people but they want about 60k from me. If she were so inclined could she take back the assignment given? By the time she got w/ them the kids were emancipated and CPS didn't contribute at all to their support. I do not intend to pay a red cent to those people or my ex. We had a verbal agreement having to do w/ the sale of the house {mine}that I left w/ her for the kids when we were divorced. She kept the money from the sale and I quit paying the child support. I doubt if she will ever own up and call the dogs off and I doubt if those nasty women at CPS would ever even want to believe me, so am I left w/ the options of never having an above board life or paying off the judgement?
