Help me here in HI

I was in an accident a few yrs ago here in HI. And I didn't have insurance. I was on the freeway and I rear ended someone. That person rear ended the person in front of them. And someone rearended me. I was taken to the hospital. Never received anymore information. Left the island, I was done with college. Now some 4 yrs later I am back in HI and I went to get my Driver's Lic in my new married name and they told me that I could until I paid some huge fee (Thousands and thousands of $$$). And that they had sent me some paperwork, that I never recieved, probably becuase I left after graduation. So I started to look up some information and found out that I have a traffic BENCH WARRANT issued in my maiden name on 08 Jan 2003. But that the cases are inactive and they show I owe a ZERO balanceas of 30 Oct 2005. It also states that the accident was minor. But now my driver's lic is expiring and now I am trying to figure out how to proceed without suddenly oweing thousands and thousands of $$$. since I have been able to stay under the radar for 4+ years. What do I do?
