I would suggest "coming clean" with your parents, as it's probably their insurance policy (not to mention your college fund) at risk here too. If you have someone making a reasonable claim (appears that way to me,) take the chance your car keys will be yanked and let them in on the impending disaster. Six months in your room sure beats the alternative.
