Hmm, funny but when I got a DUI I went up to the States ATty and talked to the gal - told her that I was the primary caregiver for my mother who is blind - which I was at the time - and she not only agreed to court supervision for 2 years which I completed BUT she also agreed to NO suspension of my license. I didnt lose my license for ONE minute - never had to get a work driving permit - nothing. I left the court and went to the circuit clerk and got my license immediately back. The circuit clerk tried to fight me on it til I showed her the letter that the judge purposely put on record and gave me a copy of to carry in my car - the circuit clerk told me they had never seen anything like it. And that was just 6 years ago - and all I paid in fines was 1600.00 - no lawyer fees, no drunk driving school - nothing - I went to therapy for 12 step but that was paid for by employer health insurance. Even the judge said he had never seen a deal cut like mine, especially without an attorney.

But, no mater what, you are still able to drive til you go to court and plead -

My first DUI was a crash & I wasn't arrested, just hospitalized then 9 months later, went to court. I actually had lost my license for 30 days and didn't even find out since the letter they supposedly sent to suspend it, never got to me. So when I called a month or two later to see when it was going to be suspended, I had already had the "OK" to get my license back! I asked if I was in trouble for driving that entire time - to my surprise was told "I guess if you didn't get pulled over, don't worry about it! Also if you never received the letter, legally you weren't informed." BUT...the 2nd one - they arrested me and took it on the spot. So - I'd say unless they took it, clipped it or something of that sort, you should be legal to drive unless someone official (cop, court) said otherwise. Still not sure? Call the State Highway Patrol office and find out if you have a valid driver's license. Good luck!
Sorry to say this - but after the 1st one and then getting a second one on top of that - your license SHOULD have been taken away immediately ! What were you thinking driving drunk again ???? It took me ONCE and I have been sober now completely for over 6 years. If you have to drink then DONT DRIVE, flat out simple !!!!
