help me understand

Im a 44 year old mom, of a wonderful 4 year old boy, I filed for divorce in a different state last year, had the protection orders, the court dates and about all the abuse i could take, the threat of looseing my son made me cave, i gave in and stayed with this mean horrible man, I was so stupid!!!
Anyway, now here I am in a state who doesnt see emotional abuse as abuse period.I tried to leave with my child, called the police for help, and because they saw no sighns of domestic violence, they wouldnt let me take my son, I have been through threats of taking him away from me, im mental, im this and im that, he says because i dont make as much as him i wont get custody,I no longer want to go through this, Im scaired, ans im tired, does any one have any advice for me??
Ive talked to the lawyers, they all tell me to just leave, its not that easy!! I have a child I have to uproot, and make sure i can be safe,
Please help me out? i dont know what to do any more, im desperate
