Foreclosure in Divorce
I am in Michigan and am going through a divorce.
The deed of the marital home is in both of our names but the mortage is only in her name. The divorce lawyers suggest we split the debt based on whose name is on the debt. My wife(ex) intends to let the house go into foreclosure. What are the credit ramifications for me during the foreclosure if the foreclosure happens prior to the completion of the divorce. What about if it happens after the completion of the divorce? Should I have my name removed from the deed/title? Thanks! |
