Am I liable for his debts?
I need some advice.I have been seperated from my husband for 3 yrs.I was married for 20 yrs & never worked...was a stay-at-home mom.He controlled all the finances & money during our marriage.I was never allowed to tend to any of it.He has a problem with not paying his bills & stays in debt.
A yr ago he lost his home (which was in his father's name).Now out of the blue, his parents are harassing me to pay them half of the money on the repossessed home.I left a mentally abusive marriage & have been happy since I got out.My bills are paid & my life is good but,now his family is trying to ruin it for me.I need to know what my rights are in the state of Texas.Am I liable for his debts? Can his parents harass me like this? I feel like I'm being backed into a corner & don't know what to do about it.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
