notice of intent to dismiss

what does a "notice of intent to dismiss" mean?..on a court website it reads
6/09-non-contested hearing
7/09-notice of intent to dismiss
8/09-entry or dismiss
..i am concerned for my children..any help would be appreciated

In what context? It's hard to be accurate with such a little bit of information, but...............intent to dismiss suggest ---well, an intent to dismiss a particular motion or charge.

Is this family court? Surely it says something else..........
