Angry Mortgage company ignoring judges order

I divorced my ex-husband 3 years ago. *We were both on the mortgage to our house. The judge gave the house to my ex-husband and told him that he had to pay the entire mortgage. Also I had to give him a quickclaim deed.

My husband stopped paying the mortgage and now the mortgage company has ruined my credit and is trying to collect from me. I sent the mortgage company a copy of the divorce but they say I still owe them.

How can I get the mortgage company to honor what the judge said and to leave me alone? What can I do about my ruined credit? Thank you so much!

The document to which you refer is called a "QUIT CLAIM", not a quick claim

In any regard, a quit claim deed refers to the TITLE of the property, not the loan obligation.

"Regardless of how the marital property was divided in your divorce decree, you will still be responsible for the financial obligations on all jointly held debt. Before you pay the debt, you should review your settlement agreement to see if your attorney added a clause to protect you from having to pay this obligation. If the clause was broken you would have the right to take legal action against your ex-spouse. "
Divorce And Quitclaim Deeds

Good luck.
