Divorce, Married Abroad

Hi,

I have two questions. Firstly, if two american citizens get married abroad (Hungary) and then decide to divorce. Can they get this divorce in the US? Second question, how does one go about finding the assets of a soon-to-be ex, whether the assets be here or abroad?

If anyone can help with either question that would be great.

Where you got married does not matter so long as it was valid there. I have lots of experience seeing people trying to hide assets both in the USA and abroad. They get CREAMED by the judge in such circumstances but you need to have an outside private investigator to document the assets. It usually isn't that hard to do, you trace assets, a professional knows how. Any spouse doing that gets royally screwed in court.
