In regards to your question, thoroughly check out any attorney you consider using; their credentials and experience are of utmost importance regardless of the purpose of the consultation. You can check your state bar association as well. You may want to contact a family attorney in your area and ask in advance what the consultation to do this would cost .. and how long (time) it should take for the consultation itself or even if they offer a telephone consultation. This is a relatively simple situation: you found out recently your current marriage isn't valid; how do you annul it so you can remarry again and what filing/court/attorney costs are involved? Most importantly, what kind of timeframe are you looking at? A good family attorney should be able to give you a realistic total figure to work with .. only you can decide whether or not it's worth that kind of money to get on with your life.
Good for you for making the phone call. At least you know now there is a certain procedure in place for your state, despite the time it took to reach someone. (That'll happen depending on how early in the day or week, etc. that you call city hall.) You can, of course, always post your case on www.legalmatch.com as well. Good luck.
