Question Reasonable and Necessary

There is a clause in my divorce decree that reads...

"6. The Wife shall carry all of the minor children on her medical insurance, and each party shall equally pay all uninsured reasonable and necessary medical, dental, hospital, optical, and prescription drug expenses."

Who defines "reasonable and necessary"? Does she? Do I? Perhaps it's the court system who defines it (since they included the terminology in my decree)?

She has, without consulting me (1), fitted all 4 children with dental braces and is now demanding that my equal share be paid to her immediately. I don't believe that the braces are necessary and reasonable. (2)

Our financial situations are completely opposite. She, being remarried, seems to be doing rather well. I, on the other hand, am struggling and can't afford this expense. She claims that she will take legal action if I don't pay her.

Who defines "reasonable and necessary"?

Jeffrey

(1) She has sole custody.
(2) Statement has been generalized for clarity.

You will want to file paperwork with the court asking for clarification of the judgment. Your request can include the fact that braces were put on all children and you would like to know if this procedure falls into the court judgment.
