Consult with an immigration attorney who may be able to find grounds for him to stay. Obviously, he didn't come here alone at age 9. What about the rest of his family? Are they citizens?

If they aren't legal, they need to go back to their own country. Maybe he could stay here but the rest of the family should know better. The 18 year old didn't know any better when he came here. So I don't blame him/her. Once he gets "legal" he would be able to stay here. And by the way, why were they living here illegally for so many years? Do they have jobs here? If so, they were hired illegally and the person that hired them could get in trouble.

This is just my opinion, for whatever it's worth.

The poster states that they are not citizens. This doesn't mean they are ILLEGAL.

The two are not the same.

Who said anything about being hispanic?? Does it matter?

Default holy toledo....

May I suggest you might want to remove that totally racist prejudice reply before the ADMIN sees it and bans you??

That has nothing to do with this thread---and the ADMIN has spoken strongly in favor of immigration in the past. I suspect she won't look favortably on your comments.

I'd click EDIT and then DELETE POSTING if I were you.

Just a suggestion.

And one more note--next time you see someone who speaks with an accent---and feel prejudiced, remind yourself---they are smart enough to learn two languages---

Which is more than I ever did.

I know people from almost all walks of life. I am very proud of anyone who knows more than one language. I know sign language and can communicate to most deaf people. I know a bit of spanish,german,italian,jewish...... So as you can see, I am not prejudiced. Just hope that the original poster's friend is able to find out a way to stay here in the states.

But thanks for the advice anyway. It is well taken.

Being able to speak another language doesn't mean you aren't prejudiced.

But, I commend you for learning other languages. I never could quite get the grasp of it.
