Default Defective Car wheel bearing assembly

I just purchased a new hub assemby for my rear wheels about 2 months ago. I put this assembly on myself, which only involved tighting four bolts. Yesterday the assembly seperated from itself and my tire flew off my car at about 60MPH. I was not at fault, the assembly seperated from itself where the shaft of the hub connects to the bearing. The assembly comes as one piece. When it is purchased you only attach the assembly to the axel. The Bolts I used to attach the assembly were still attached to the axel along with the other half of the hub assembly. Where the manufacturer put the assemblies together is where the fault lies. When my tire flew off it hit a woman's house and did some damage. Now my insurance has to cover that which could increase my rates. On top of that when my car hit the ground it damaged my brakes, shocks, and my exhaust. That was just what I have seen so far. I have filed a report with the police and a claim with my insurance. I have pictures of the damage to the house and my car. The woman can testify to being there when the wheel hit her house, and I am in contact with the man that was driving behind me and witnessed the tire fly off. The hub assembly also has a 1 year warrenty. So to the point. Do I have grounds for a lawsuit, either against the autoparts store that sold it to me, or the manufacturer of the part?

Yes, possibly both for the insurance company to be repaid... ask them to file for you>>> Might save you the legal cost. Other wise, you will be paying the lawyer to file and go to court for you in a non-injury case... ie. nothing more than monetary damage to anyone. Since your insurance company is taking the loss and they MIGHT have a staff of lawyers available to do it, I'd provide them with all the information and affidavits from any witnesses.

It is your game if they don't want to go after the manufacturer.
