Illinois felony theft law?

Hi, my boyfriend was arrested 2weeks ago. For stealing over $10,000 worth of items from a bunch of diffrent walmarts.

We live in illionis, and he went on a trip all the way to georgia and stole from every walmart on the way to georgia..

He has a bond of $80,000.

I have a quite of few questions.

How long can he get? Min&max
Is it true that 1year really means a couple of weeks or something like that?
Can he get realeased from jail without posting the bond? 80,000$ is a lot of money.. that we do not have.
He also went to court two fridays ago, and they set him another court date on Oct 2. what are we ecspecting on this court date?

please help me. Im really confused and im a compleat reck at the moment, im really worried.

Heres a news artical about it, it explains it better than I have

In which state was he arrested? With what was he charged? Felony, I presume? He is going to face charges in numerous states it seems, so you will have to either hire an attorney for each state or go with the public defender (good luck with that). It IS possible that since they are all Walmart stores, that he could face all of the charges in one location but I suspect jurisdictional issues are going to come into play. The way the court system is, this could stretch out for months, if not years----and if he is extradited to each state, he will be enjoying a long stay in several different lovely taxpayer funded resorts. Yay.

No one can guess the minimum or maximum time he could serve because 1. you haven't said the charge against him and 2. each state has DIFFERENT laws. AND as the convictions mount for each charge in each state, the previous charge, although from the same crime spree, may be viewed as "priors".

No, he cannot get out of jail without paying the bond. That is the purpose of the bond----and it is set high in proportion to the crime.

I would find myself the best defense attorney possible. He is going to need it.
