Default illegal search?

i have a question regarding police misconduct, specifically illegal search/seizure - my son was at a friend's house having a band practice. The practice was late afternoon, but a neighbor apparently called police about the loud music. Two officers arrived and told them about the complaint and the three stopped the practice. However, one of the officers became very rude and threatening. He patted down all three of them, but then ordered them to turn around and clasp their hands together. He asked them what was in their pockets, which they all replied that they had car keys and cell phones. The officer then physically searched in their pant pockets to only find keys and cell phones, and searched the grounds and area that they were in. He also entered a closed garage door (without permission or search warrant) and searched the garage. He even picked up an empty cigarette pack up off the floor and looked into it with a flashlight! Although there were no grounds for arrest, he also threatned my son and the other 18 year old with arrest, and the 17 year old with arrest/transfer to the detention home! The 17 year old's mother came outside and his attitude totally changed. I know police an "pat down" someone, but I feel that this was an illegal search since he put his hands in their pockets and walked into a closed door to search a garage. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

Thumbs up

It may be helpful to read "stopped by cops" in this criminal law section.
