Can he send me to jail or prison?

Okay here is the story I have been with this guy for 4 years and on and off for the past year. Even even on the times that we have not been together I have stayed at his house overnight with him, and we still go on vacations and family functions together. He had stayed with my family from us two and a half years was not working and my family supported him and put a roof over his head. Pretty much that's our background now bring you up-to-date. I have learned that he has some serious issues he's very controlling manipulative amongst other things I was a student in school and I had a laptop that was given to me by the school two years but once I graduated it would be mine. One day he decided to jump on his controlling horse and kicked me out of the car to make me walk home when I was having back spasms. He took off and knowing that my laptop was in the back of the car and did not return it no matter how many times I called your text he knew that I had three assignments that were on my computer that needed to be turned in if not I would have got a feeling great and I would have been kicked out of school. To make a long story short I was kicked out of school because he did not return my laptop and I did not get my assignments turned in and he at the time had$5,000 was going to use to buy me a car or to buy as another car and when he did not return my laptop I took the money. I gave it to my family that he owed for the two years two and a half years that he'd stayed with us and I kept 204 myself and went to the casino. At the casino I ended up winning $1,500 and with that money I went and got myself a nice hotel room he came and visited me at the hotel room where I had my credit card and my money in a safe and he broke into it and store it and blame it on somebody else I reported my credit card stolen and still to this day have not got my laptop back since all this has happened he is taking me on a trip to Payson and he's taking me to the casino twice. Now that I've decided that I want nothing to do with him because he's manipulative and he is emotionally and mentally screwed me for a long time he's use my laptop as leverage to get ready warrants and I just give up he will never change I don't want nothing to do with them. But now he says that he is going to call the cops and press charges against me for stealing his money he's going to tell them that I went into his room and stole it when his dad a lot of me to stay there the night I was waiting for my laptop because they also did understand why he was doing what he was doing. They're pretty much my question is can he pressed charges against me for taking that money and can you put me in prison for it? And would this be a criminal or civil matter? Because he's trying to tell me that it would be a class 3 felony. And one more thing I had never reported my laptop stolen because I thought he would give it back but I am wrong so what should I do should I press charges or just let it go.
