NEED immediate ADVICE!

Hi, I need some fast advice. I was charged with pocession of drug paraphanelia last month in NC and my court date is day after tomorrow, 10/23/06. I want to go through the deferred prosecution program. I just realized now that I have no idea how to do this, before, i just thought that I would go to court and ask for this. Now, I am having second thoughts, and seeing as I did not hire a lawyer, I really need some advice on what to do when I go to court on Monday for this. THANKS..please respond!

You need to be taught a lesson.

public defender

there are a few steps to the legal process. Many times the first court is only to enter a plea of either guilty or not guilty. Not guilty plea may be referred to public defenders office. If you are eligible, they can set you up with a deferred entry. While in the program you will be referred to substance abuse counseling/treatment attend NA/AA meetings and random testing. THe program is approximately 18 months. If this is first offense once diversion is completed it will be as if the arrest never ocurred. At least that is the way it is in CA. good luck.

Yeah there is help for anyone that wants a better life badly enough. But if you do it for the courts and not for yourself it wont work.

Good luck
